Softball Preseason Preview

We know you all eagerly await the beginning of intramural softball season, but more importantly the softball season preview blog.  Unfortunately mother nature decided to give us an extra two weeks to start the season, so I won’t make you wait any longer.

Top 5 Teams

Men’s

5. Mimosa Minutemen

Lost by one run to SAE in the semi-finals last year, is that the motivating factor behind a trip to the 2014 championship game?

4. The Great Bambinos

Great name, solid team. Brandon Hannah, Jonathan Pedigo and Chase Cline lead a team that should make all the plays on defense, but can they push enough runs across the plate?

3. KA Big Cheese

A quarterfinal team in last years Men’s softball playoffs, can they surprise on the softball field the way they have on the basketball court?

2. SAE Gold

Last years runners up will have to overcome the losses of Tyler Bruce and Josh Crews, but Chris Brasher and Cole Tynes should lead a potent offense

1. FIJI Purple

The defending champs return enough talent to get the number one spot in our power rankings until somebody defeats them.

Women

5. Sigma Kappa

Captain Kelly Del Grosso has her team believing they can compete with anyone. If they get off to a good start, look for them to build confidence going into the postseason

4. KD Green

Ashley Fleener and KK Shepherd lead one of the fastest teams in the league. If they can get on base, look for them to make defenses uncomfortable by always trying to take the extra base.

3. AOII

If they can figure out the right lineup, this team has a deep roster that should compete in every game.

2. Chi O

Chi O gave AXiD their toughest test in last years playoffs before falling 4-3. The addition of Abby Woosely to the already potent Chi O lineup could be just what they need to win the close games this year.

1. AXiD

The defending champions return their core players Bailey Hawkins, Megan Riley and Amanda Johnson, who are looking forward to the chance to go back-to-back.
